Yea, yea- since the massive Mic Diplomat collab w/ Montreal's Ghislain Poirier, many peeps over there have checked out my solo material. One being Third Side Music who have signed up my CD: "The Parlor" for licensing purposes. Third  Side Music is a music placement company in Montreal and they get music licensed for video games, commercials, etc. This is a big opportunity for me so don't be surprised to hear your bwoy Collage inna next commercial or tv show! Ephraim Alexander aka Terso R.I.P. 7/21/06

Well, what a difference a week can make. I was just hanging out with my friend Terso last Saturday smoking herb and this Saturday he's gone. Terso was a local producer/DJ in the D&B/Electronic music scene here in Seattle and we've had many talks about music & life in general. He had grown up in Oak Park (a nearby Chicago suburb) close to where my mother lives. I lived there too at a time but we didn't know each other there. I met him here in Seattle when he was a promoter for an event I performed at when I first moved here. He was a good person and I personally feel bad because last week he asked me for a copy of my CD when he saw that I had 3 copies in my pocket and I told him that they were for someone else and if I had 1 left over, I'd give it to him. Well, I did end up with 1 left but forgot to give it to him. Now it's too late......

Reggae Returns to the Baltic Room!

Since the Wicked and Wild dancehall parties moved from the Baltic Room at the beginning of the year, many peeps have been waiting for reggae music to return to the club. But the wait is over, starting July 17th, a new reggae nite returns. Monday nite JamJam is the name and will be presented by my bredrin Element, (Zion's Gate Sound) and yours truly DJ Collage aka "Da Big Mon". Element will run the riddims and I'll nice up di party pon di mic. And once it gets flowing, we'll host special guests. It goes down on Mondays @ Baltic Room 1207 Pine $3 cover ladies free B4 11 and the opening nite will be free for everyone!!!!

Lady Sov, MF Doom, Mos Def, DJ Collage on Adult Swim Comp

Hip-hop is a nerdy enterprise. From old school heads likening their skills to a science to current MCs obsessing over the intimate details of their whips, chains, and, ahem, business practices, there's no escaping the fact that it takes quite a bit of time to go digging through records for samples or coming up with words that rhyme with "block".
Recently, the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim has been feeding the nerdy side of the genre by teaming up with artists and labels to bring you exclusive music. First came Danger Doom's free-to-download Occult Hymn EP, and a collaborative compilation with Stones Throw Records is scheduled for a September release. Now it's time to add Chicago label Chocolate Industries to the list of Adult Swim collaborators, as June 19 will bring the appropriately named Chocolate Swim, the label's mini-album collaboration with the network.
Chocolate Swim will feature contributions from several artists on the Chocolate Industries roster, including Lady Sovereign, Ghislain Poirier, and Diverse, as well as some superstar guests. As usual, all of the music on the six-song compilation is previously unreleased and will appear exclusively on the Adult Swim website.

DJ Collage Presents The Parlor
This is the CD I've been working on for the last year. It was originally to be released on Seattle's Mass Mvmnt label, but situations arose that made the release not possible. So for now, I'll be going the renegade route of selling online and at live shows. It's 12 tracks of ragga, hip-hop & electronica. And after I get the sales thing sorted, I'll get back with more details. Some of the tunes are already being added to radio station playlists worldwide and if you wanna check out any of the tunes, you can hear them via my MySpace site. EA Sports & Ghislain Poirier & DJ Collage
The video game behemoth EA Sports has licensed the track "Mic Diplomat" for usage in their NBA Live 07' video game for Playstation & XBOX. This track is the wicked collaboration between DJ Collage and Montreal-based beatmaker Ghislain Poirier. It also appears on Ghislain's solo album- "Breakupdown" via Chocolate Industries records. Now legions of video game players will hear Collage's booming vocals over Ghislain's booming beats. Awsome! Collage has also recently signed a co-publishing deal with Montreal based publisher Third Side Music. So, don't be surprised if you hear this tune booming round you soon.
